Dr. Steven C. Chang

Dr. Chang is the surgeon at Natural Hair Transplant Medical Center, which he founded. He has spent 34 years in hair restoration surgery. He has been a licensed physician and surgeon in California since 1982. His schooling covers general surgery and anesthesiology at Keio University in Tokyo, where he received an M.D., followed by a general surgery residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York. In February 1995 he trained at the Marzola School of Hair Surgery in Adelaide, Australia, and in July of that year he attended Brandy School and Workshop in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He also has advanced anesthesiology training. He established FUT 2.0 and the HUMS Protocol, optimized the 0.9mm punch technique used in FUE 2.0, and devised a method for calculating donor area and graft numbers along with a system for measuring recipient area. He also developed Twilight anesthesia for hair restoration pain management and the NHT Anesthesia Method, and he invented the patented Needle Guard safety device. He presented on measuring graft numbers and donor area at the ISHRS 6th Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. He belongs to ISHRS, the American Academy of Aesthetic and Restoration Surgery, the American Society of Hair Restorative Surgery, and the Japan Society of Hair Restoration Surgery.
