About

Dr. Shayma is a board-certified internal medicine physician and the medical director and sole physician at Millennium Medical Center and Spa. She earned a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Baghdad College of Medicine between 1992 and 1998. Residency training followed in Philadelphia at Drexel University, covering PGY I and II from 2004 to 2006, and then PGY III at Prince George's Hospital, University of Maryland. She began practicing medicine in the United States after that training, and she is a member of the American College of Physicians.

She has advanced training in aesthetic medicine and has 15 years of experience as an advanced injector. She personally gives Botox, Dysport and Jeuveau treatments and performs every injection herself. Each plan starts with an assessment of the patient's face, and she chooses the Botox product and dose for that individual instead of working from a fixed template. She begins Botox with a cautious amount and checks the outcome at two weeks before deciding whether more product is needed. She has treated first-time patients, patients correcting earlier overcorrection and patients with complex anatomy. Where another product suits a patient's anatomy and goals better, she recommends it, including advising against Botox.

Hair and scalp medicine is one of her specialties. The Dr. Shayma Scalp Solution came out of years spent treating patients with hair loss. She designs each protocol after assessing the individual, picking every element to address a particular contributing cause. Before deciding on GLP-1 candidacy, she assesses hormones, insulin resistance, thyroid status and metabolic markers, and she reviews blood tests and vitamin and hormone levels ahead of any treatment. Most of her patients arrive by referral, and she keeps her caseload small so she can give each person time and build lasting care.

Approach
Builds each treatment and protocol from the patient's own evaluation, reviewing bloodwork and hormone levels first.
