Dr. Salvatore DeCanio

Dr. Salvatore DeCanio founded Choice Vision Care & Wellness, where he serves as medical director. He is a board-certified optometric physician and a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, practicing under the credentials OD and FAAO. He holds a bachelor's degree in biology from Wake Forest University and a Doctor of Optometry from the University of Houston College of Optometry. He later took an elective residency in hospital-based optometry and ocular disease at the VA Medical Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Earlier in his career he spent a year doing research at the Wake Forest University medical school and served as executive director of TLC Laser Eye Centers in Boca Raton for four years. He was an adjunct professor at Nova Southeastern College of Optometry, co-chaired the Palm Beach Winter Seminar for 18 years, and sits on the executive board of the Optometric Council on Cornea, Cataract & Refractive Surgery. Across more than 30 years he has held leadership roles in both private and corporate eye care practices. He has treated more than 20,000 patients.

His work centers on second-opinion consultations and complete visual health care, with experience in cataracts, corneal shaping without surgery (Ortho-K) and LASIK. He has treated patients of all ages, from children to older adults. His aim is to pair advanced care with a comfortable, spa-like atmosphere.
