Dr. Neal Handel

Dr. Neal Handel is a board-certified plastic surgeon who has practiced in Southern California for 41 years, beginning in Los Angeles in 1980. He earned a bachelor's degree from Columbia University in 1969, graduating with honors, and an MD from Yale University in 1973. His surgical training included general surgery at UCLA and Tulane, a plastic surgery residency at the University of Colorado Medical Center, and fellowship training in England and Scotland.

He is a Clinical Professor at the UCLA School of Medicine, where he trains young surgeons. For 17 years he was co-director of The Breast Center, a multidisciplinary breast practice. His experience includes breast surgery and cosmetic and reconstructive breast surgery, as well as cosmetic operations of the eyelids, nose and face, and body contouring procedures such as abdominoplasty, liposuction and fat grafting.

He has lectured at professional meetings in the United States and abroad and has given live surgery demonstrations. He has written more than 60 peer-reviewed articles, authored twelve medical textbook chapters, and co-edited the textbook Problems in Breast Surgery: A Repair Manual, published in 2014. He was named one of the ten best plastic surgeons in California by CMagazine in 2006, and was named a Super Doctor by Los Angeles Magazine and a top doctor by Castle Connolly for 2016 through 2019.
