Dr. Michael Kim

Dr. Michael Kim is a facial plastic surgeon at drmichaelkim Facial Plastic Surgery in Portland, and his entire career has been devoted to facial plastic surgery. He holds board certifications in facial plastic surgery and in head and neck surgery, and has more than ten years in practice. He received a molecular biology degree from Princeton University, then completed medical school at the University of Washington School of Medicine, graduating with honors and joining Alpha Omega Alpha. He trained in otolaryngology and head and neck surgery at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and completed a fellowship in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery at Oregon Health & Science University.

Before opening his Portland practice, he spent two years as division director of facial plastic surgery at Mayo Clinic in Arizona. He later returned to the Division of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at OHSU as an assistant professor, holding faculty appointments at both Mayo Clinic Arizona and OHSU. He gives lectures on facial surgery in the United States and internationally. He is the first and only rhinoplasty surgeon in the Pacific Northwest to use the Piezo device.

His work spans surgical and nonsurgical facial cosmetic procedures, with a particular focus on rhinoplasty, including revision and ethnic rhinoplasty. He also performs cosmetic upper and lower eyelid surgery, facelift, neck lift, brow lift, chin augmentation and lip lift, and ear surgery is among his specialties. He approaches surgery as a shared process, with patients helping to set goals through open, honest conversation, and he gives each patient the time needed beforehand to shape the surgical plan. Staff remain available after surgery if problems come up. Each case is planned after weighing aesthetic goals, anatomy and overall health.
