About

Dr. Michael Epstein, also listed as Michael A. Epstein, MD, FACS, is a board-certified plastic surgeon practicing at Concierge + MAE Aesthetics & Plastic Surgery in Northbrook, seeing patients from Chicago and nearby areas. With more than 25 years in plastic surgery, he has held an academic appointment in the University of Chicago's plastic surgery department and serves as a lead plastic surgeon for the Illinois/Indiana chapter of Healing the Children. His education began with an undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, followed by a medical degree from Wayne State University in Detroit. General surgery training came at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago, then a plastic surgery fellowship in Detroit, and further cosmetic surgery training at Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital in New York. Rhinoplasty is a large part of his caseload, including complex revisions after earlier nose surgery. He handles the majority of cosmetic procedures, among them facelifts and eyelid rejuvenation, and his med spa services include laser hair removal, laser skin resurfacing and facials.

He is one of the cosmetic surgeons at Esteem Makeover in Chicago, a program he co-founded, and has performed pro-bono cosmetic surgery for people in need through it. His pro-bono work also includes operations for children in the United States and Healing the Children medical missions to Nicaragua and Ecuador. He is affiliated with the Y-Me National Breast Cancer Organization and the Sue Duncan Children's Foundation, and is an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and The Rhinoplasty Society.

He says surgery should be recommended only when a disproportionate or deformed facial feature can be improved safely with minimal risk, when the patient's complaints match the exam, and when the patient is of sound mind and body. He also holds that new technologies should be vetted before they are adopted. The practice's website says he has received critical acclaim for advanced cosmetic surgery techniques, a Castle Connolly Top Doctor award for Excellence in Plastic Surgery, and recognition as a top doctor from US News & World Report. The site adds that the Chicago Tribune named him one of the Top 5 Hot Doctors in Chicago, that he has been quoted in ABC, NBC, CBS and FOX programs and publications, that he was invited to speak on Oprah After The Show, and that he has been profiled on Discovery Channel programs.
