Dr. Mark M. Hamilton

Dr. Mark M. Hamilton is the owner and surgeon of Hamilton Facial Plastic Surgery in Indianapolis, Indiana. He practiced with Perkins Hamilton Facial Plastic Surgery in Indianapolis from 1998 to 2003 and has run his own practice there since 2003. Since 1999 he has served as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the Indiana University School of Medicine, where he teaches residents. He has held active hospital appointments at Franciscan Hospitals, Community Hospital South, IU North Hospital, and Ascension Health.

He earned a B.A. in Chemistry at Indiana University from 1984 to 1988 and an M.D. from the Indiana University School of Medicine in 1992. The practice says he graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Indiana University and received a merit-based scholarship during medical school. His training includes a surgery internship at Methodist Hospital of Indiana, a residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Saint Louis University Hospitals, and a Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery fellowship through Indiana University at Meridian Plastic Surgery Center.

His practice covers cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the face, head, and neck, with a focus on skin cancer treatment and reconstruction. That includes repairing the eyelid, lip, cheek, nose, or ear after excision. For more than ten years he has trained and spoken for Allergan, instructing physicians on injectables such as Botox and Juvéderm, and he has lectured fellow physicians on facial plastic surgery.

He is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology (1998) and the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (2000). He voluntarily recertified in Facial Plastic Surgery in 2019, and the practice says he earned the highest score in the nation on that written exam. He is licensed in Indiana and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Since 2016 he has sat on the Board of Directors of the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, where he chairs the Exam Development Committee and works as an oral examiner. He served as president of the Indianapolis Medical Society from 2009 to 2010 and chaired the Emerging Techniques and Technologies Committee of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery from 2003 to 2006. He received the 1887 Award from the AAFPRS Foundation for philanthropic commitment.

The practice states that peers have chosen him as one of Indianapolis Monthly's Top Docs for more than a decade. It also reports that Castle Connolly and the Consumers Research Council of America have recognized him as one of the top physicians in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery in America. The practice says he has 34 publications.
