Dr. Leslie Smith founded Sapphire Advanced Aesthetics in Minnesota, where she practices as a board-certified cosmetic surgeon. She has more than 28 years of experience as a board-certified surgeon, with a focus on cosmetic surgery and soft tissue treatment. Earlier, she spent three years as a major and surgeon in the Army Medical Corps, based at Brooke Army Medical Center in Houston, Texas, where she served as a flight surgeon and handled burn and trauma reconstruction. She then became Assistant Director of the Level 1 Trauma and Burn Center at Hennepin County Medical Center, worked as an Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Minnesota Medical School, and ran the Wound Care Center at Mayo Health Systems in Albert Lea. Over eight years she taught medical students, physician assistants and surgical residents in trauma, ICU and burn care, and for three years she sat on a medical board reviewing residents preparing for board certification. She graduated from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed a surgical residency at Michigan State/Bi County Community Hospital in Warren, Michigan. She received an Army Achievement Medal for service in Honduras as a medical ambassador. Her move into cosmetic surgery followed continuing medical education at the University of Florida in 2010. Her practice spans body contouring, skin tightening, facial rejuvenation and hair treatments, from minimally invasive to non-invasive options. She is trained in current laser technology and uses a device that works on nearly all skin tones. She performs initial Selphyl consultations, assessing hair loss and building treatment plans, and offers laser vein treatments and Asclera sclerotherapy. She also hosts the Beauty on the Brain podcast on aesthetic medicine trends and appears as a guest on other podcasts.
