Dr. Jose Aquino

Dr. Jose Aquino is the owner and chief staff surgeon at U The Clinic, a role he has held since 2022. Before that he was chief staff surgeon at Eclat The Clinic from 2020 to 2022, and a staff surgeon at Strax Rejuvenation from 2018 to 2020. He personally conducts both the virtual and in-person consultations. He specializes in plastic and reconstructive surgery, with a focus on body contouring.

His medical training started at the Instituto Tecnologico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), where he earned his MD with studies from 2000 to 2006. He went on to a general surgery internship at St Vincent Catholic Medical Center and a general surgery residency at Westchester Medical Center, both part of New York Medical College, and then a plastic surgery residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, completed in 2018. He has been board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery since December 2023. Earlier in his career he worked as a primary care physician with the Firefighting Department of Santo Domingo in 2006 and 2007, and at Our Lady of Altagracia Regional Hospital in Cotui from 2008 to 2009.

He has been a visiting faculty member and clinical instructor in the Sculptor Clinic Body Contouring Program in Santo Domingo, and was invited faculty at the 1st Worldwide Live Surgical Symposium on body contouring in Sao Paulo in 2020. He has published in MEDINTEC and JPRAS Open, among other venues. He also received an International Plastic Surgeon of the Year 2019 award from Mara de ORO of Venezuela and a Magna Cum Laude medical school graduate award from BIO-INTEC in 2006.
