Dr. Jill Waibel

Dr. Jill Waibel is a board-certified dermatologist who serves as Medical Director and owner of Miami Dermatology and Laser Institute in Miami, where she practices medical dermatology, cutaneous laser surgery and cosmetic dermatology with patients of every age. She also holds several other posts: Subsection Chief of Dermatology at Baptist Hospital, Medical Director of the Multidisciplinary Skin Cancer Clinic at Miami Cancer Institute, and Clinical Voluntary Assistant Professor at the University of Miami. She has also accepted a position as Medical Director of Canyon Ranch Resort and Spa.

Her main focus is laser treatment of scars, including scars from burns and trauma. She keeps more than 65 laser devices in use for medical and cosmetic skin work and has taken part in about 50 clinical trials run through Miami Dermatology and Research. She has advised companies and represented them as they took products through FDA approval. She serves on the board of the American Society of Lasers in Medicine and on the Medical Advisory Board of five laser manufacturers.

She teaches physicians in dermatology around the world and trains and lectures military physicians. Alongside her work with wounded veterans and their families, she founded the Restoring Heroes multidisciplinary support group, which provides medical care to veterans and 9/11 survivors. She has published peer-reviewed journal articles and textbook chapters. She has developed industry-leading procedures that combine lasers with adjunct therapies. She was named Person of the Week on ABC World News Tonight in 2015.

Her recognitions include a 2017 leadership and mentorship honor from the ASLMS for advocacy for women in medical science, a 2016 JDD Humanitarian Award for laser treatment of traumatic burn injuries, and an honor for excellence in medicine presented by Surgeon General Koop.
