Dr. Huachen Wei

Dr. Huachen Wei founded WW Groups and DR WW Dermatology PLLC. He is a board-certified dermatologist who holds the FAAD credential. He began his academic career as a tenure-track assistant professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, then joined Mount Sinai School of Medicine in 1995 as an associate professor and research director of dermatology. He was promoted to tenured full professor of dermatology there in 2002. Earlier, he directed the Skin Research Laboratory at Mount Sinai and led the dermatology clinic at Queens General Hospital. His training includes a medical degree from Shandong Medical College (1982), a Master in Public Health from Beijing Medical University (1985) and a PhD in biochemistry and environmental oncology from NYU Medical Center (1992). He completed internal medicine and dermatology residency at Mount Sinai Hospital in 2000. His research has focused on UV light and environmental factors in skin cancer and immunity, oxygen free radicals and skin aging, and chemoprevention of skin cancer and photoaging using natural ingredients. He has published more than 200 peer-reviewed articles and received over 30 research grants, five of them NIH R01 grants as principal investigator. Clinically, he treats acne, actinic keratosis, allergy testing, basal cell carcinoma, eczema, hyperhidrosis and skin cancer. His cosmetic work centers on tear trough correction, non-surgical nose lift, lip enhancement, temple volume restoration and chin contouring. Suneva recognizes him as a Bellafill Diamond Injector and Diamond Elite, and he has more than 30 years of injection experience. He received Dermatology Foundation Research Awards in 1996 and 1998, the American Academy of Dermatology's Outstanding Young Dermatologist award in 1998, and the Nelson Paul Anderson Memorial Award in 1999. He has been listed among the country's Top Physicians in Dermatology since 2004 and has received a Patient Choice Award since 2008.
