About

Dr. Glenn J. Messina, M.D., is a physician and expert injector at Messina Esthetic Medicine. He has delivered medical care on Long Island since 1986 and has been licensed to practice medicine and surgery since 1987. He is a former professor at Stony Brook School of Medicine and began an aesthetic medical practice in 2005. His training includes Downstate Medical Center, the ICU at Mt. Sinai Medical Center, internal medicine at LIJ, and anesthesia and critical care at Stony Brook University. He completed a critical care fellowship and a preceptorship in aesthetic procedures, and he is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology. He is a member of the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery and the American Society of Anesthesiologists. He has received the AMA Physicians Recognition Award and the Paul J. Sari Award for Excellence in Teaching from Stony Brook Medical School. He has been injecting Botox and Dysport since 1989, for spasticity and for cosmetic use, and he has been residency-trained in neuromodulators such as Botox since that year. He specializes in cheek augmentation with fillers and performs lip fillers, which are among the most in-demand procedures he performs. He also serves as an instructor for dermal filler administration and is a Botox instructor, precepting physicians in injectable and laser techniques. He marks treatment areas before injecting Botox or Dysport and adjusts units to the level of movement the patient wants. With fillers, he aims for natural results by using enough to restore lost volume and no more, and he sometimes uses a photo from a decade earlier to guide restoring a patient's natural volume. Each lip augmentation is individualized, extra care is taken with the cupid's bow, and he has augmented one side of the lip in asymmetry cases caused by dental abnormalities.

Approach
He works toward a chosen endpoint, using as little product as possible to reverse changes that build up over time.
