About
Dr. Dwana R. Shabazz is a board-certified dermatologist at Renascance Dermatology in Fairfax, Virginia. Her work spans general and cosmetic dermatology for adults and children, with particular attention to skin cancer screening and to care for skin of color. She began her training with a bachelor of science in biology and pre-medicine, magna cum laude, from Xavier University of Louisiana in New Orleans. She went on to complete a medical degree and a master's in public health with a community health emphasis at George Washington University in D.C., where she also did an internal medicine internship. Her dermatology residency took place at King-Drew/Harbor UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, and she served as chief resident during her final year. Beyond the clinic, she takes part in local community outreach, community skin cancer screenings and local conferences. She has presented at several major national conferences and has contributed to peer-reviewed journals. She contributed to the textbook Dermatology for Skin of Color, published in 2008. She is recognized as a TOP Dermatologist in the Fairfax region and has appeared in TOP Doctors interviews broadcast on CNN Headline News, the Oprah Winfrey Network, BRAVO and other networks.
