Dr. Douglas Ballesteros MD

Dr. Douglas Ballesteros, MD, is Chief Medical Director at South Coast MedSpa. He started with the business in 2012 as a regional medical director, then became Chief Medical Director in 2015 and remains in that position. He has practiced medicine since 1999. He studied microbiology at the University of California San Diego, then received his medical degree from the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California in 1999. He finished the Emergency Medicine Residency Training Program at the Los Angeles County-University of Southern California Medical Center in 2003 and is board-certified in emergency medicine. After residency, he joined an emergency physician group in San Diego. Before joining the MedSpa, he spent around nine years in emergency departments at underserved community hospitals. At the MedSpa he oversees medical treatments for laser hair removal, laser skin resurfacing, laser tattoo removal and skin rejuvenation. He stays current through manufacturer trainings, continuing medical education, and medical journals and papers on cosmetic laser medicine. His interest in aesthetics led him to the role.
