About
Dr. Daniel Mazzaferro is a plastic and reconstructive surgeon at the practice. He received an M.D. from Drexel University College of Medicine in 2018 and an MBA from Auburn University in 2011. He earned a B.A. in Chemistry from Auburn University in 2010, graduating as a member of the Honor College, and from 2013 to 2016 he was president of his Drexel medical school class.
He completed a six-year residency at the University of Pennsylvania, which is a busy breast cancer reconstruction program, and during that time he took part in more than 3,500 cosmetic and reconstructive procedures of the face, breast and body. He then finished an aesthetic fellowship with Dr. Louis Bucky and spent two months traveling internationally to learn from facelift surgeons who are leaders in the field. His specialties include facelift techniques such as deep plane, high SMAS, plication and mini facelifts, along with breast aesthetic surgery, male body surgery including gynecomastia correction and high-definition liposuction, and tummy tucks for men with abdominal laxity, diastasis recti or loose skin.
Outside the practice, he is co-founder and president of RheoTek Medical Inc., founded in 2020, which develops needle-free drug delivery systems. Since 2022 he has served as a business and clinical advisor to Graftable, a company developing a hydrogel to improve fat graft survival. In 2023 he led a $1.1 million seed round for RheoTek, and from 2022 to 2023 he was principal investigator on a $100,000 Pennsylvania Medical Society innovation grant for a needle-free delivery system. He has 30 publications, 7 grants, 3 editorials and 15 honors and awards. He works with patients from New York City, New Jersey and abroad, and welcomes out-of-town patients seeking facial procedures in New York City.
