Dr. Christopher Schaffer

Dr. Christopher Schaffer is a plastic surgeon and the owner of Schaffer Plastic Surgery, a practice he founded in Birmingham, Alabama. He received an undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1988 and a medical degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 1992. His general surgery residencies were completed at Temple University Hospital in 1994 and Vanderbilt University Hospital in 1998, followed by a plastic surgery residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, finished in 2000 under Dr. Luis Vasconez. He has been board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery since 2003 and is an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. He has 20 years of practice and eight years of advanced training. He served 16 years in the Army Reserve Medical Corps, reaching the rank of Major, and took part in two deployments supporting Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. His specialties are breast augmentation, rhinoplasty, tummy tuck, buttocks lift and neck lift. Advanced techniques can minimize scarring and support smoother recovery. Consultations are one-on-one, giving patients time to ask questions and talk through their goals. He asks about diet and exercise history when planning a procedure. For breast augmentation, the plan factors in body proportions, skin quality and the patient's goals. He offers direct availability to all of his patients.
