About
Dr. Ched Garten founded Paragon Sports Medicine and serves as its CEO, practicing non-surgical sports medicine and longevity care in Atlanta. He is board certified in family medicine and holds a Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine. His education includes a B.S. in Biology with a minor in Biochemistry from the University of Tennessee (1997) and an M.D. from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine (2001). He trained in family medicine at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, where he was chief resident and was named the program's Family Medicine Resident Clinical Teacher of the Year. In 2005 he completed a primary care sports medicine fellowship at the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Alabama. Earlier he was head primary care physician for the Atlanta Falcons from 2005 to 2010, associate team physician for the NHL Atlanta Thrashers, and NFC primary care team physician at the 2011 NFL Pro Bowl. During residency he worked as team physician for minor league hockey and baseball teams in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He treats youth, collegiate and professional athletes. His clinical work centers on musculoskeletal ultrasound, PRP, bone marrow and adipose tissue therapy, performance medicine with peptides, IV therapies and hormone optimization, and metabolic health. He is medical director for Carticept, Cartiva Medical and Corporate Health Partners, oversees the practice's medical weight loss program, and works with the team on bioidentical hormone replacement. He has served as principal investigator on two FDA clinical trials involving regenerative medicine injections and has taken part in multicenter research on regenerative therapies. He teaches musculoskeletal ultrasound techniques to medical professionals across the country, including at the NFL Physicians Society symposium, and contributed as an author to the textbook Atlas of Ultrasound-Guided Musculoskeletal Injections. He is an inducted member of the American Sports Medicine Institute Fellowship Society and belongs to the Interventional Orthobiologics Foundation and the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine. Visits open with an in-depth discussion and clinical assessment. He uses musculoskeletal ultrasound to pinpoint damaged tissue and plan the injection route, and he reviews how past injuries may be shaping current symptoms, along with movement patterns that could lead to future problems.
