Dr. Babak Azizzadeh

Dr. Babak Azizzadeh leads the CENTER for Advanced Facial Plastic Surgery in Beverly Hills and is Clinical Chief of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Cedars-Sinai, with an affiliation to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He has practiced for more than twenty years and holds two board certifications, one in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery and one in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery. His credentials include MD and FACS, and he is a master trainer and fellowship director. He completed a head and neck surgery and facial plastic surgery residency at the UCLA School of Medicine, then a sub-specialized fellowship in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery at Harvard Medical School. He went on to serve as a Clinical Instructor at Harvard, then joined Cedars-Sinai. UCLA later appointed him Clinical Faculty and then Associate Clinical Professor, and he later led a division at Cedars-Sinai. He formerly served as Western Regional Director of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS) and is now its president-elect. He co-directs the AAFPRS fellowship program, which he has used to train more than 20 facial plastic surgeons. He also sits on the AAFPRS Executive Committee and on the board of the California Society of Facial Plastic Surgery. He is president of the Sir Charles Bell Society and of the Facial Paralysis and Bell's Palsy Foundation, serves as a volunteer and board member for the Global Smile Foundation, and co-founded MACRO Trials. His clinical work centers on deep plane and revision facelifts, facial reanimation, selective neurolysis for synkinesis, rhinoplasty, and surgical and non-surgical facial rejuvenation. He has broad experience with fat grafting, blepharoplasty, and all types of fillers and biostimulators. He developed Facial Anatomic Subunit Analysis, which he uses as a basis for placing fillers and fat grafts. Consultations are educational and lead to personalized recommendations, and he offers virtual consultations of 30 to 40 minutes, which include review of medical history and photos. With Botox, he starts with conservative doses and adjusts them at follow-up visits. Patients and surgeons travel to him from around the world. He has served as lead editor for more than 10 plastic surgery textbooks and 80 scientific articles. He led the 2023 AAFPRS Annual Meeting and the 13th International Facial Nerve Symposium, and co-chaired the Cedars-Sinai Multispecialty Plastic Surgery Symposium for more than a decade. He pioneered selective neurolysis and led initiatives that established the first facial nerve center in South America. He has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, ABC, Elle, Oprah, CBS, New York Post and The Hollywood Reporter. He has been named a top plastic surgeon by Newsweek, US News & World Report, Super Doctors and Castle Connolly.
