Dr. Azadeh Shirazi

Dr. Azadeh Shirazi is a board-certified dermatologist and the founder of La Jolla Laser Derm. Her practice covers cosmetic, surgical and medical dermatology, and she works as a skin cancer specialist. She is certified by the American Board of Dermatology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. She has over 20 years of experience, including more than ten years practicing in La Jolla.

She trained at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, completed her dermatology residency at the Mayo Clinic, and finished dermatology and cosmetic surgery training at UC San Diego. She is fellowship-trained in Mohs micrographic surgery. At the Wellman Center for Photomedicine at Harvard Medical School, she completed a research fellowship alongside Dr. Hamblin, studying laser energy in wound healing, cancer cells and atherosclerotic plaques. She later spent around ten years on the faculty at Scripps Clinic, teaching dermatology and skin surgery to other doctors. Research scholarships from Harvard University and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center supported her earlier work, and she has several peer-reviewed publications.

Her clinical focus is laser therapy for patients of every skin tone, alongside Botox, fillers, biostimulators, microneedling and energy-based treatments. She concentrates on laser rejuvenation and aesthetic enhancement, chooses the laser device for each patient and sets the treatment parameters. She personally performs every Agnes RF treatment and every facial balancing consultation and treatment. She is one of the few providers in the region trained on Agnes RF and one of the most experienced Halo providers in San Diego.

She developed and patented EyeGlow, a non-surgical under-eye brightening technique for hollowness and dark circles, and she performs non-surgical eye bag removal using Agnes RF. She founded AziMD Skincare, a line developed by a dermatologist. She has spoken at the Global Aesthetic Conference and the American Society of Dermatologic Surgeons Conference, has presented at the World Congress of Dermatology Summit in Argentina, and has been featured in Vogue, Allure, Forbes, The New York Times and Women's Health. She also hosts the podcast More than a Pretty Face.
