About

Dr. Carniciu is a board-certified oculoplastic surgeon practicing at New York Eye and Face Oculoplastic Surgery, serving patients in Westchester. Her practice concentrates on facial plastic surgery, especially the tissue surrounding the eyes. She works on upper and lower eyelids, treats ptosis, performs endoscopic forehead and brow lifts and midface lifts, repairs tear ducts and treats facial skin cancers. She also personally administers BOTOX, dermal fillers, and laser skin resurfacing. Many patients travel to her from across Westchester, and she is highly regarded for oculoplastic expertise.

She earned a bachelor's degree cum laude from Dartmouth College, majoring in biology and moral philosophy, and an MD from Stony Brook University School of Medicine. Her ophthalmic surgery residency at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, included a term as Chief Resident. She was one of 25 surgeons chosen for an oculofacial plastic surgery fellowship sponsored by ASOPRS, training in oculoplastics at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and at Consultants in Ophthalmic and Facial Plastic Surgery in Southfield, Michigan. She holds ASOPRS certification, which about 750 surgeons worldwide hold. After fellowship she returned to Westchester.

She teaches on the oculoplastics faculty at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai and reviews manuscripts for several surgical journals. Her published work includes textbook chapters and journal articles, among them peer-reviewed papers on eyelid complications, orbital reconstruction, eyelid reanimation, and eyebrow infections, and she has presented research at national meetings. In organized medicine she is the immediate past president of the Westchester County Medical Society and has served as 9th District Delegate for Westchester to the Medical Society of the State of New York.
