He received his medical degree from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a diplomate of the American Society of Plastic Surgery. He completed a plastic surgery rotation at the Stanford University Transgender Clinic in 1979. He is affiliated with Whittier Hospital Medical Center and Hollywood Hospital.
