About
David A. Hecht is a facial plastic surgeon at the practice's Scottsdale location. He holds dual board certification from two bodies: the otolaryngology board and the board for facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. His practice covers cosmetic and reconstructive procedures on the face, head and neck. He has been president of the Arizona Society of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery and has served as a Clinical Instructor at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he trained residents and medical students. He graduated summa cum laude from the College of William and Mary and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He earned his medical degree at New York University School of Medicine. His general surgery internship and otolaryngology-head and neck surgery residency were at Georgetown University Medical Center, where he also conducted basic science research at the National Institutes of Health. During residency he ranked first in the nation on the annual in-service training examination. He then completed a fellowship in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago. His caseload includes rhinoplasty, blepharoplasty, facelifts and reconstructive procedures. For rhinoplasty, he prefers to preserve and reshape cartilage rather than remove it, pays attention to how the nose functions for breathing, and works to prevent collapse. He favors a natural result that does not look operated on and sets realistic expectations with patients. He has published peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, and co-authored a 2009 chapter titled Philosophy and Principles of Rhinoplasty. He presents at local and international meetings. He also takes part in the pro bono FACE-TO-FACE humanitarian program run by the Educational and Research Foundation for the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He personally assesses and manages every patient's care, including deciding whether and when surgery is appropriate for anti-aging goals.
