Dalbe Markman

Dalbe co-owns AOC Salon, which opened in 2008 with locations in Ghent and the Hilltop area of Virginia Beach. The partnership holds the Master of Craft rank at the salon and includes an in-house educator role. The salon's record includes becoming the first Davines concept salon in Hampton Roads. Prior to hairdressing, 15 years were spent acting, singing and dancing in New York City film and television, followed by several Manhattan salons where the day-to-day running of a salon was taken on. A license came in 2003 after an 18-month apprenticeship. Training continued in New York City with stylists and colorists Thomas Heinz and Laurie Foley. Cutting was studied at Allilon Education in London under Johnny Othona and Pedro Inchenko. Through Davines North America and Allilon, four intensive weeks covered Primary Shapes, Mechanics and teacher training, and assisting international artistic directors Angelo Seminara and Anna Paccitto came next. Study with Davines educators worldwide adds up to more than ten years.

Precision cutting is a specialty, including razor cuts, short styles and lived-in cuts with natural waves. Makeovers, dramatic color or cut changes, corrective haircuts and color work are offered, along with extension cutting and placement for natural-looking results. Editorial styling and color work for local, regional and national projects is another area of work. Roles include educating on Davines salon color and cutting for East Coast and North American salons, sitting on the Davines North American Cutting Team, and providing regional color education for TwinState Beauty Supply. Apprentice mentoring runs through the salon's program, with partnerships at Virginia VOTECH and local beauty schools, and support for apprentices in Hampton Roads spans more than 15 years.
