Chrystal Rose May

Chrystal Rose May owns Craft Hair Studio and works as its stylist and colorist. She trained at the San Francisco Art Institute and later graduated from Avenue Five, a Vidal Sassoon Connection school, where she earned several achievement awards. She is certified in Vidal Sassoon's ABC cutting method. Earlier in her career she managed a busy salon in downtown San Francisco, and she later joined an established luxury salon in Austin, where she apprenticed in color for two years under an Austin colorist.

Her color work covers hand-painted color, highlights, dimensional red, gray coverage and fashion colors. Her training includes the Wella, Goldwell, L'Oréal and Pravana color lines, plus Kerastase, Oribe, R+Co, Jane Iredale and Paula Dorf products. Her cuts are shaped to suit each client's hair and to be wearable.

Her visits center on the guest experience, running from a relaxing scalp massage to a tailored blowout. She goes to numerous classes and hair shows each year, among them Oribe Backstage, R+Co on the Road and Austin Fashion Week. She took part in Austin Fashion Week in 2015 and 2016, and her work has been featured on Bangstyle, in Armoire Magazine and on the Good Day Austin morning show.
