Charles M. Boyd

Charles M. Boyd, M.D., M.B.A., F.A.C.S., is a facial plastic surgeon who founded BOYD in 2009, when it opened in Birmingham, Michigan as a one-provider clinic. He serves as the practice's medical director and personally trains and supervises all of its aesthetic providers. According to the site, he is triple board-certified, with certifications from the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, plus diplomate status with the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Fellowship in the American College of Surgeons.

He earned his undergraduate degree at Howard University in three years, graduating at the top of his class with Phi Beta Kappa and summa cum laude honors. His medical training includes Harvard Medical School, and he also holds an MBA from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business. For more than 14 years he was a full-time faculty member at the University of Michigan, serving as an assistant professor in dermatology and otolaryngology and as associate chief of staff of the University of Michigan Health System. He has published research in medical and surgical journals, written book chapters on cosmetic surgery, and taken part in studies including FDA trials of consumer cosmetic products. He is often invited to lecture in the United States and abroad, and he has trained hundreds of physicians in advanced injection techniques with Botox, Juvederm and other minimally invasive treatments.

His clinical focus spans surgical and nonsurgical facial rejuvenation, from facelifts, brow and eye lifts, rhinoplasty and neck lifts to cosmetic dermatology and laser surgery. The practice says he brings surgical-level precision to injectables. According to the site, he has been ranked among the top 1 percent of Allergan providers nationwide and named the top preferred Silhouette InstaLift provider in Michigan. He sits on the board of Bethany Kids, a nonprofit providing healthcare to children in East Africa, and volunteers with World Medical Missions for at least two weeks each year, performing cleft lip and cleft palate surgeries on children in Kenya.
