Her color education began at Mario Tricoci Salon and Day Spa in Leawood, Kansas, where she studied advanced color and highlighting and then spent five years in the color department mentoring apprentices. She learned cutting and styling at Mitsu Sato in Prairie Village, Kansas. In 2006 she obtained a cosmetology instructor's license, and for two years she taught cosmetology at the Mitsu Sato Academy in Overland Park. From 2007 through 2013 she served as an artistic educator for Pravana, instructing stylists in advanced color theory and technique.
