Carlos Ayala

Carlos Ayala practices as an otolaryngologist and facial plastic surgeon and holds board certification in both specialties. He is the first physician in the Rio Grande Valley to hold that dual certification. He received his medical degree from UCLA School of Medicine with honors, completed his otolaryngology residency at Harvard Medical School, and then did a fellowship in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery at the Lasky Clinic in Beverly Hills. Over nearly three decades of military service that began when he was 18, he worked as a medical officer in the Navy and in surgical service in the Air Force. While stationed at Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan, he rebuilt faces for soldiers and civilians with severe injuries. He has also joined international medical missions, and after leaving the military he settled in the Rio Grande Valley. His practice covers cosmetic and functional rhinoplasty, septoplasty, reconstruction after nasal trauma, brow lifts, facelifts and eyelid surgery. He removes skin cancers and coordinates with a pathologist to confirm that the margins are clear, and he plans any reconstruction ahead of the procedure. Botox is offered to men and women, with a thin needle used for precise injections into the targeted muscle, and he designs individual acne treatment plans. A team under his clinical supervision provides laser services, including laser tattoo removal for men and women in McAllen, the Rio Grande Valley and South Texas. He has published in facial plastic surgery and ENT care and is an invited speaker nationally and internationally on rhinoplasty and facial plastic surgery.
