Bianca Lyder

Bianca Lyder is the founder, chief executive and owner of New Horizons Hair by Bianca, where she focuses on hair loss. She is a Certified Hair Loss Specialist. She was the first hair loss specialist in her borough approved as a vendor for a VA hospital. She began in hair at 14 as an apprentice to a hairstylist and barber, training first under Joseph Plaskett of Hairstyling by Joseph, where she added standard styling and maintenance to her braiding and weaving. She has more than 30 years of experience in hair work.

Her services include hair extensions, hair replacement, weaving, interlocking, braiding and hair design. She works with The Evolve Volumizer, an integration system for thinning hair and hair loss. She sits on Evolve's artistic council team, developed the application technique for the Volumizer, and is one of the main educators teaching salon owners and stylists to apply it. For many years she also worked closely with Federico Calce of Federico Salon.

Her work has been featured at Yves Claude, Nardi's and Black Hair Is, and photos of it have appeared in Black Hair Digest, Modern Hair and Style, Good Housekeeping and Black Salon Client Guide. Her current work is published in Bella Magazine and an online blog. Clients have included Diana Ross, Iman, Lauryn Hill, Janet Jackson and Donatella Versace, among others. Community work includes grooming workshops for teenagers at Harbor Junior High School in Manhattan, a partnership with the American Cancer Society on The Look Good, Feel Better Program at NYU Cancer Institute, and service provider membership of the Trichotillomania Learning Center.
