Bee Sam

Bee Sam runs Bee Sam Beauty in Vancouver, Washington, and works there as owner and master colorist. She is a fully licensed cosmetologist in Oregon and Washington and holds a cosmetology degree. Oregon has also registered her to teach hair, nails and esthetics at Phagans School of Hair Design, and her teaching credentials cover hair, nails, technology and esthetics. Her color work centers on balayage in a range of application methods, including the layage, which is balayage applied while the client is reclined. She invented the Boxy Balayage pre-sectioning technique. She also works on braided balayage, pinwheel color, gray blending, corrective color and runway-level ombrés built from several salon techniques. She has completed thousands of hours of highlighting and has years of corrective color experience. Her techniques have appeared in Modern Salon, The Colorist and Beauty LaunchPad, and the layage was featured in The Colorist and USA Today. She also creates VanStrands hair designs, from garments to accessories. She works one-on-one with clients to build a custom color and choose a blonde tone. Before a color correction she gives a consultation and lays out a plan, and during and after balayage appointments she advises on hair care. She has many years of experience moving clients into gray blending. Her certifications are Olaplex Certified Salon Professional, K18 Certified Salon Professional, Malibu Certified and certified salon professional.
