Astrid Monroe

Astrid Monroe founded Temple Glow Wellness, where family nurse practitioner work centers on women's integrative and functional medicine for women and people at every stage of life. Focus areas include hormone and metabolic health, perimenopause and midlife, PCOS, Hashimoto's, menstrual health, preconception and postpartum wellness, and integrative mental health; functional medicine work also covers uterine fibroids, depression and anxiety, insulin resistance, resistant weight loss and trauma-informed care. Entry into healthcare came through massage: after high school, studied Eastern and Western massage therapy, practiced for more than ten years, and held a license as a massage therapist before moving into nursing. Undergraduate and graduate nursing science degrees came from Florida International University. Across many years as a nurse and family nurse practitioner, integrative approaches such as botanicals, nutrition, and touch and energetic therapy have been applied in clinical practice for over 20 years. Training includes graduation from Aviva Romm's Women's Functional & Integrative Medicine Professional Training Program, with the Herbal Medicine for Women course currently being taken. Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner through Functional Medicine University, with all modules of the Institute for Functional Medicine program completed and certification-eligible. Continuing education through University of Miami Osher Center for Integrative Medicine, Institute for Functional Medicine and Psychiatry Redefined. Memberships include Psychedelic Medicine Association, American Herbalist Guild, American Holistic Nurses Association, American Nurses Association for Nurse Practitioners, Florida Nurses Association, Nurse Practitioner Council of Miami-Dade, IM4US, Florida Food Policy Council and Institute for Functional Medicine.
