About

Alejandro Medin, who goes by Alex, founded Health & Light Institute and leads its holistic health practice. He brings more than three decades of work in holistic wellness and psychotherapy and is a licensed clinical psychologist. He earned his clinical psychology degree in 1990 from Universidad de Belgrano in Argentina and spent a couple of years at a psychiatric clinic afterward.

His later training shifted toward bodywork and water-based practice. He completed massage therapy certification at Heartwood Institute, pursued somatic psychology through bodywork at the Esalen Institute from 2000, and trained in bodywork and aquatic therapy during more than 18 years at Harbin Hot Springs in California, starting around 1998. He studied with Harold Dull, who founded Watsu, and Mario Jahara, creator of the Jahara Watsu method, and has studied yoga, meditation, Reiki and hands-on healing. Later he shared aquatic therapy in Maui with Watsu practitioners and clients. He founded Ecstatic Dance Miami and later Watsu Miami, which offers classes and private sessions.

His approach blends verbal psychotherapy with body-centered methods including bodywork, breathwork, mindful movement and somatic awareness. Areas he works in include personal and spiritual growth, relationship concerns, grief, emotional release, anxiety, trauma and PTSD, addiction, depression, stress, life transitions and career counseling. He leads the center's therapeutic healing and aquatic therapy sessions unless a client requests another practitioner. Sessions welcome people of every age, culture and background.
