Aka-Sahan Kourouma is the founder and holistic specialist behind the business. She established the original Sahan Motherland African Hair Braiding Salon and Spa in Hyde Park, Chicago, and has over 30 years of experience in natural wellness. She became a licensed cosmetologist in New York, earned a post-graduate certificate in skin, hair and bodywork in Chicago, and graduated from the Soma Institute for Clinical Massage Therapy. Her specialties are precision eyebrow artistry and body waxing, along with clinical skincare, advanced facials and restorative touch therapy. She works with clients who have sensitive skin conditions, alopecia-related hair loss or chemical damage.
